GSP's Mental Health and Wellbeing Offer
Our Graduated Response to Ensuring All Our Pupils Thrive
We are firm believers that if a child feels safe and happy, then they will learn and thrive. At GSP we support our children, families and staff to navigate the highs and lows of life together.
Level 1 – Universal Offer (all pupils)
- a positive and supportive school ethos that creates an environment that enhances children and school staff's mental health.
- promotion of school values such as responsibility and resilience which help to build positive mental health.
- delivery of a considered PHSE and RSE curriculum which support key social and emotional skills.
- engagement with themed weeks which celebrate differences, diversity and support mental health and wellbeing.
- whole school engagement in the My Happy Minds programme which can also be accessed at home to support family wellbeing.
- build on and celebrate positive peer relationships and school staff relationships.
- capitalise on the many 'light-touch' daily contacts that staff have with children and families.
- building into our timetable daily opportunities for wellbeing and mindfulness time.
We recognise that at times, some of our children require a more bespoke approach to support their mental health and wellbeing and we are proud to offer the following intervention programmes:
Level 2 – Lower level needs (internal)
- Support from the pastoral lead (Miss. Leah) pastoral intervention
- Drop in sessions ‘bubble time’ with Miss. Leah
- Drawing and Talking
- Think Bricks therapy
Where there is a more complex need we are able to offer specific support and advice from our Pastoral Lead and School Link Mental HealthTeam (SLMHT)
Level 3 – More complex needs
- ELSA
- EBSA
- SLMHT
Level 4 – Higher level of risk
- CAMHS
- External agencies specifically centred around mental health and wellbeing
As a staff we model positive self-care, resilience and strong social and emotional skills.
Mrs Wrangles is a fully trained Mental Health First Aider in school.
Miss Leah is a qualified ELSA / EBSA.
We are also part of a cluster of Warrington schools who have access to the excellent resources at the School Link Mental Health Team.
